Black Sapote

Origin: Black Sapote is native to Mexico, Central America, and Colombia.  (Diospyros nigra) is a species of persimmon Common names include chocolate pudding fruit, chocolate persimmon and zapote prieto.

Flavor Profile: Black Sapote is known as the chocolate pudding fruit for its dark brown, custard-like flesh. This fruit has a light flavor with a rich texture. It is often eaten on its own or blended with dates to make a sweet, creamy "chocolate" pudding. You can also spread it on toast for a nutritious substitute to chocolate flavored hazelnut spread.

How To Eat: Wait until soft all over. This fruit will turn from green to brownish when ripe.

First come first serve, any orders that can't be shipped this season will be reserved for next season.

The total weight of each box varies depending on the size, shape, and mass of the fruit:

  • One Fruit contains one piece of fruit (sizing varies)
  • Small Box contains up to 3-5 pounds
  • Large Box contains up to 8-10 pounds
  • Extra Large Box contains up to 16-20 pounds
  • Bulk Box contains up to 34-40 pounds

We ALWAYS recommend ordering a LARGE BOX for the best value, when compared to a Small Box. Because shipping, handling, and delivery are so expensive per package, the Large Box will contain more fruit and ultimately a better value.
